CRISP is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Denham, the UK Information Commissioner, will deliver the CRISP Annual Lecture on Wednesday, 14th March 2018 in Lecture Theatre 1, Appleton Tower, 11 Crichton Street, EH8 9LE. You are welcome to arrive at 6.00pm and the lecture will begin at 6.30pm.

Elizabeth Denham was appointed UK Information Commissioner in July 2016, having previously held the position of Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, Canada and Assistant Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Since her appointment, she has been closely involved in a host of challenging issues that confront data protection and freedom of information regulation. This activity includes preparation and guidance for the implementation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation in May, 2018, the production of an important discussion paper on ‘Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’, and work on international enforcement co-operation as well as on cyber security and information rights.

The Appleton Tower is located in the University of Edinburgh just next to George Square. The lecture will be followed by a wine reception.
